The First Battle of Bieben was a minor battle that took place in and around the town of Bieben, in West Germany. The battle was relatively small, which involved only a few aircraft, such as American A-10 Warthogs and F-104 Starfighters, and some Soviet mobile AA guns such as the 9K33 Osa, ZSU-23-4 Shilka and the ZSU-30, as well as other weapon emplacements
Order of BattleEdit
The Russians had wanted control of Bieben and the area around it for strategic and tactical purposes, so they could set up assaults on other towns, cities and places of importance, as well as the fact that they simply just needed to make a breakthrough in the NATO lines. However it began with NATO making the first move, as their intelligence sections already knew and reported that Soviet forces were preparing to stage an attack on Bieben; they sent several aircraft to attack the Soviet position, which for the most part they succeeded; killing several armored vehicles and gun emplacements. However, a Soviet ZSU-30 opened fire on an F-104 Starfighter, knocking out of the sky. However the pilot of the aircraft survived, and using his disabled aircraft, pointed it straight down to the mobile AA gun, killing himself, and destroying his F-104 and the mobile AA gun. After this, the rest of the NATO aircraft vacated the area, and returned behind friendly-lines.
