The Department of Defense, or the United States Department of Defense, is a United States Federal Government department that was created to handle and supervise the protection of national and even global security, defense-related roles and issues, as well as commanding and controlling the entire U.S Armed Forces. The head of the DoD is the Secretary of Defense, which is codenamed, SecDef. The Department of Defenses' headquarters is based upon and is the Pentagon, which is located in Arlington, Washington D.C.
